Charlotte County Property Appraiser - Paul L. Polk, CFA, AAS, RES

Website Accessibility Statement

Updated September 1, 2019

We want everyone who visits the Charlotte County Property Appraiser (“Appraiser”) website to feel welcome and find the experience rewarding, going above and beyond the recommendations stated in Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act 1998.

Charlotte County Property Appraiser is committed to ensuring that all visitors and residents, including visitors and residents with disabilities, can access and use all of our programs, services, and activities. We recognize that many visitors and residents are increasingly using our website to access information about what we offer, and to take advantage of the website to obtain services.

We also recognize that users of the website who have disabilities may use the website with the assistance of technology including screen readers and other auxiliary aids and services. As outlined below, we want to provide users of our website with information about what we offer, ways to inform us of any difficulties encountered, alternative ways we can offer the services, the time frame for doing so and who to contact.

To help us make the Appraiser website a positive place for everyone, we've been referring to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities, more compatible with assistive technology, and more user friendly for everyone.

The guidelines have three levels of accessibility (A, AA and AAA). We’ve chosen Level AA as the target for the Appraiser website. To meet this goal, we've hired the certified professionals at ilumino, llc to help us achieve our goal of WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility through the training of our web team and content managers. During the 3-day workshop, testing was conducted on a Windows computer using NVDA.

We are aware that there are some content on our website, which is provided by 3rd party vendors, that may not be accessible or usable by everyone equally. We have contacted those providers and requested that they correct any code that does not comply with the WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines and we will update those areas as soon as possible. Excluded areas include the following:

  • Crystal Reports PDF files
  • Network Solutions security badge
  • GIS Map files

Our website offers a wide range of information and services, and we recognize that for users with disabilities, some material on our site may pose challenges. We are interested in hearing from users with disabilities, we want to know about your experiences, and want to address the challenges you identify.
